Client Files: The Roof Deck Duel Reveal

It's been ages since we shared The Roof Deck Dueling Mood Boards, and it's high time we show you the roof deck incarnate. Pop open the bubbly, put up your feet, and heck you can even turn on your favorite show as you transport yourself to this Bucktown rooftop oasis.

The clients worked with Chicago Roof Deck & Garden  for the design and build-out of the roof deck itself. They created a TV/lounging space, a dining/bar/entertaining space and a sunning space. Match made in heaven, right? From there, the Clients tapped Unpatterned to assist with the furniture and accessories selections.

Given the fairly neutral backdrop of wood, sky, and greenery, we decided bursts of complementary colors was the way to go. Sunny orange, shades of blue, turquoise and yellow bring cheer to the neutral base pieces and background.  The Clients wanted the roof to feel welcoming and fun, not too fussy, but rather the perfect place to host a party for friends with the game on in the background! We started with this Pinterest board, broke it down to two mood boards, and ended up with a little bit of both.

Unpatterned confessions: the yellow Rizza Chair on the blue rug combined with this orange notNeutral Ribbon Side Table is our absolute favorite little vignette from this rooftop. This project is also a great example of how mood board options can help clients visualize the final space and make decisions. And where it really translated into: "Yes! Buy all of those things!"

We had so much fun putting this roof deck together and can't thank the Bucktown clients enough for letting us collaborate and share it here. Interior design doesn't have to only happen indoors!
